During this unprecedented time, it’s especially important to be aware of potential Coronavirus scams. Fraudsters are using the outbreak to manipulate people into clicking on malicious links and attachments. This includes downloading viruses, revealing sensitive information or donating to fraudulent charities. Don’t click on any links you weren’t expecting.

In addition, some schemes claim to have products that treat or prevent the virus. These are not legitimate. For the most up-to-date information about Coronavirus, go directly to the website for the CDC or WHO. Be sure to go directly to these sites rather than clicking any links as cybercriminals purporting to be with agencies such as the CDC have begun sending out mass emails related to the coronavirus. Clicking through via those links could download a virus, so always go directly to the sites rather than following links in emails.
