Faster is not always better. Think before you click!
In a world where payments happen quickly, sometimes with a simple click of a button, it’s important to know to whom and where your payments are going. Scammers use techniques to impersonate family, friends, or legitimate companies to obtain your funds.
You must remain vigilant and cautious with any unsolicited calls, texts, or emails requesting payment requests. If it sounds too good to be true, it is likely a scam.
Always...
- Verify requests, using a trusted number, before believing it is a family member or friend.
- If a merchant “contacts” you, disregard and contact them directly using a trusted known number.
Never...
- Accept funds from unknown sources.
- Trust links claiming to be connected to an online platform or app.
- Purchase gift cards, virtual currency, or send cash when responding to a payment request.
- Share personal or financial information including log in credentials.
